Activities you can do on your own

Join The Vegan Society and help us make the world more vegan-friendly.

Write letters to newspapers, magazines, MPs & businesses. Give your vegan perspective on a recent event; ask for improved services to vegans.

Tell your story. Local journalists always need copy. Do you have an unusual or inspiring story? Write to them about it, with a good picture if you can.

Start a local vegan web site. See what our Local Contacts are doing.

Talk to local groups and companies. Ask them to consider the needs of vegans. Support them to improve. Suggest caterers look at our free Vegans Catered for Here window stickers or our Sunflower Standard.

Set up a display Try libraries, cafes, leisure centres, etc. with our leaflets and posters.

Hold a social. Invite vegan-curious friends to local restaurant, or hold a pot-luck evening.

Organise a film showing. Our film Making the Connection is ideal for vegan-curious people. Hold a public film night, publicize it widely, and give people time to discuss the film.

Give a talk or cookery demonstration. Daunting if you’re not experienced, but also very rewarding. Invite questions. Have a look at our Public Speaking tips.

Run a workshop. Once you have some experience, help others get started.
